How WalletScout ranks lenders

We believe a comparison service only works if you can trust how it orders results. Here is exactly how we do it.

1. We start with eligibility, not money

When you complete the WalletScout form, we compare your profile against each lending partner's published criteria: loan amount, purpose, credit range, income, and state availability. Lenders that cannot serve your profile are filtered out before any ranking happens.

2. We rank by lowest APR first

For the lenders you are matched with, we sort by the lowest advertised APR first. APR matters because it includes the interest rate and any origination fee, so it is the clearest way to compare the true cost of a loan.

3. Compensation never changes the order

WalletScout earns a referral fee when you accept an offer with a lending partner. That fee size does not influence which lender appears first, which offer is highlighted, or whether a lender is shown at all.

4. Our rate data comes from the lenders themselves

The APR, amount, and term ranges on our site are pulled from each lender's own public rates page once per day. We log every refresh attempt and skip any figure that looks implausible, keeping the previous day's value in place. Each page shows the last verified date so you know how fresh the data is.

5. We show total cost, not just monthly payment

A low monthly payment can hide a longer term or a high origination fee. Wherever possible, we show the estimated total cost and total interest alongside the payment so you can compare apples to apples.

6. We are not a lender

WalletScout does not make loans, set rates, or approve applications. All approval decisions, final rates, fees, and funding timelines are made by the lender or lending partner you choose.
